England country cricket side Yorkshire has been brutally mocked on social media after unveiling a funky new Twenty20 kit for the upcoming season.

Members from the famous country cricket club this week showed off the new-look outfits, after Yorkshire signed a lucrative four-year deal with Nike to be their official kit supplier.

Yorkshire celebrated the multi-million dollar partnership with Nike by posting promotional pictures with players Lauren Winfield-Hill and Adam Lyth dressed in the uniforms.

Featuring a blue two-tone design, Yorkshire describes the Vikings’ T20 shirt as "arguably the most eye-catching kit to date, reverting predominantly to the favoured light blue, but distorting the rose design to offer a striking new look."

David Willey, Yorkshire's T20 captain and England allrounder, provided input into the T20 design and was delighted with how it turned out.

“I am really excited that the club will be partnering with Nike from this season,” he said.

“The players are always proud to wear a Yorkshire shirt, and it is important to look and feel the part when playing.

“In terms of design for the T20 kit, I wanted something representative of the brand of cricket that I would like the lads to play this summer. It is bold and leaves an impression, and has gone down very well with the squad.”

Try as he did to put a positive spin on the kit design, Willey's views were not shared by many on social media.

Former Test spinner and England great Graeme Swann was among those to brutally pick apart the new design.

New kits savagely mocked on social media

“Yorkshire’s new kit ... am I the only one who can see a cartoon monkey with a floppy fringe? Is that what they’re going for? Punchy idea. Truly awful kit mind,” Swann tweeted, with two crying/lauging emojis.

The savage critique was backed up by countless others who took to social media to mercilessly mock Yorkshire about their new kits.
