The Australian dugout gave a priceless reaction to Virat Kohli's stunning catch on the boundary with David Warner sharing a smile during the team's T20 loss ahead of the World Cup.

Australia appeared to be cruising in their T20 warm-up needing 17 runs off the last over standing at 4-171.

However, in a shocking collapse, Australia were bowled out for 180 as India took four wickets with the final four balls to record a thrilling six-run win at the Gabba.

And one of those wickets involved a superman catch from mercurial batter Kohli.

Australia needed seven runs off four balls when captain Pat Cummins launched the ball right to the boundary.

The strike was travelling for six runs, but Kohli soared and caught the ball one-handed on the boundary line in front of the Australian dugout.

Kohli tiptoed on the boundary line, before cracking a smile towards the Aussies as he realised the brilliance of the moment.

And in a rare moment, Warner and Tim David could be seen sharing a smile with Kohli to acknowledge the brilliant catch.

"You're joking. Virat Kohli with a one-hander," the commentator said in disbelief.

"Look at the Australian dugout, they cannot believe it," Sunil Gavaskar said.

Fans were quick to point out the nice moment, shared days ahead of their opening matches at the T20 World Cup.

Kohli had already impressed in the match with his brilliance.

Only a few balls earlier, Kohli delivered a stunning bit of fielding to run out Tim David when it looked certain Australia would chase down the total.

The run out left Australia needing 11 runs off the final over to win.

Ashton Agar was run out before Shami cleaned up Josh Inglis and Richardson with perfect yorkers in the only over he bowled after coming on as a substitute.

Aussie bowler Kane Richardson was full of praise for Kohli after the match.

"(Kohli) was on another level in the field. They probably deserved to win it on the back of his fielding effort," Richardson said.

"It was a good game of cricket."

The match was played in good spirits as both teams looked to play themselves into form.

Aaron Finch returns with huge innings before World Cup

One huge takeaway from the warm-up was the brilliant innings from captain Finch.

Finch (76 off 54 balls) had not posted a score in four previous T20 internationals but he played an assortment of trademark thumps, flicks and classic cover drives to get among the runs ahead of Australia's T20 World Cup opener.

Richardson said Finch was ready to fire at the World Cup after nonchalantly easing three deliveries over the leg-side boundary.

"When you see him pick the ball up straight and over cow (corner), that's his trademark," Richardson said.

"He was pretty close to (his best). This format of the game, he knows it so well."
