Corey Parker's wife caught in fallout after Billy Walters quits radio gig over Broncos swipe
The Broncos hooker has abruptly ended his role on the radio show hosted by Margaux Parker.
Kevin Walters' wife was apparently so upset with a scathing swipe from Greg Martin on Triple M radio that she rang Corey Parker's wife Margaux to complain about her colleague. The drama engulfing the Brisbane Broncos descended last week when it emerged that Billy Walters had quit his gig with Triple M after Martin launched a tirade at coach Kevin and his players.
Billy Walters had been making regular appearances this season on the Triple M breakfast radio show hosted by Martin, Dan Anstey and Margaux Parker (the wife of Broncos legend Corey). But Billy quit abruptly after Martin blasted his father and teammates after their 41-16 loss to the Bulldogs in Round 21.
Former Wallabies player Martin questioned Kevin Walters' coaching ability and said the Broncos players were more focused on social media than their footy. “These poncy rock stars that are at the Broncos, they need a kick up the a**,” Martin said. “But no-one is prepared to give it to them because Kevvie isn’t tough enough on people.
“No-one is saying this because the media is littered with Kevin’s friends. OK, he is a great bloke, he is funny, fun and everything. I played league until I was 16. I have half an idea, but geez there appears to be troubles in terms of coaching at the Broncos.
“Social media has become a bigger part of the Broncos than defensive efforts. You need someone to tell you some tough news. The Broncos need to put their foot down. The other day I jokingly called for Kevvie’s head but something has to change ... whether they get someone else.
“I don’t like confrontation myself so I make everything a laugh. That’s what Kevvie does ... it’s all fun and games, well it’s not fun and games now. Someone has to be tough and strong and the Broncos don’t have anyone to do it. I bet if Ben Ikin (former Broncos football boss) was there ... I bet he would step in.”
Kevin Walters' wife contacted Corey Parker's wife to complain
Billy Walters hasn't appeared on the show since Martin's tirade and has been replaced by Adam Reynolds. According to reports, Kevin’s wife Narelle was so upset by Martin's comments that she rang Margaux to express her disappointment.
In a statement, Triple M said they hope Billy Walters returns to the show and confirmed Reynolds would fill the void for the rest of the season. “Adam Reynolds is taking over from Billy Walters on the breakfast slot for the remainder of the season,” a spokesperson said.
“Billy was a great addition to Triple M Breakfast this year and the guys loved having him on. 'Reyno' has been a regular on Triple M for the last two years and Marto, Margaux and Dan are looking forward to having the skipper on for the rest of the season.”

The situation at the Broncos hit a new low on Saturday night when they were thrashed 40-6 by the Dolphins at Suncorp. After the Dragons suffered a shock loss to the Eels on Saturday afternoon, the Broncos could have jumped back into the eight with a win over the Dolphins. But they are now still two points adrift of playing finals footy and need to beat the first-placed Melbourne Storm in Round 27 to have any hope of making it.
