Cook steps down as Birmingham City chief executive
Garry Cook has stepped down from his role as Birmingham City chief executive and will also relinquish his place on the Blues board "for personal reasons".
Former Microsoft executive Jeremy Dale, who helped broker the deal to bring American owners Knighthead to St Andrew's in 2023, will assume the role of interim CEO.
Birmingham-born boyhood Blues fan Cook will remain a member of the club's Advisory Committee and will continue to serve as a trustee of the Birmingham City Foundation, for who Dale - also a lifelong supporter - was vice-chairman.
Cook, who was Manchester City CEO from 2008 to 2011, has also previously worked for Nike, the Ultimate Fighting Championship and the Saudi Professional League.
Blues chairman Tom Wagner said of Cook: "The instrumental role he played in Knighthead becoming involved in Birmingham City should never be forgotten. We are delighted that he will remain connected to us via the Advisory Committee and Foundation.
"Jeremy has a deep understanding of our vision and culture, and we are confident in his ability to guide Birmingham City during this transition."
Following relegation from the Championship in May, after a season in which they had six different managers, Blues currently sit top of League One under Chris Davies, two points clear with two games in hand on their two main promotion rivals.
During Cook's time at the club, they have also announced their intention to leave their long-time St Andrew's home and move to a new purpose-built ground nearby.
