Cole Palmer reveals the 'amazing' teammate he voted for in Chelsea's Player's Player of the Year award

Cole Palmer celebrated a stunning first season with Chelsea by scooping two awards on Tuesday night.

The forward has enjoyed a remarkable opening year at Stamford Bridge despite a turbulent time of things for the club as a whole, scoring 26 goals in 45 appearances across all competitions.

Only former Manchester City teammate Erling Haaland leads the 22-year-old in the chase for the Premier League’s Golden Boot, such has been his form in front of goal.

Palmer was recognised for his sterling efforts by winning the Chelsea’s Men’s Player of the Season award on Monday night, while he also lifted the Men’s Players’ Player of the Year gong.

Much has been made about Chelsea’s recruitment strategy under the joint ownership of Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, with pundit Gary Neville labelling the Blues the “billion-pound bottle jobs” after the defeat to Liverpool in February’s Carabao Cup final.

Still, Palmer has been an unmitigated success and the England international was keen to point out another new arrival’s impact in his first season with the club.

Malo Gusto has also established himself in Mauricio Pochettino’s first-team amid the continued absence of club captain Reece James at right-back.

Indeed, Palmer revealed it was in fact Gusto who won his vote for the Player’s Player of the Year.

“My vote for players player was Malo Gusto, I love playing with him on the right,” said Palmer.

“He's been amazing this season when he's played as well.”
