'Child abuse': McGregor slams Khabib's childhood bear fights
The Conor McGregor camp has come out firing against the family of Khabib Nurmagomedov for allowing the future UFC star to fight bears as a child.
Hitting back at the Nurmagomedovs after they questioned his abilities as a father, Conor McGregor’s dad Tony McGregor blew up at the Russian family, bringing up a famous video at Khabib fighting a bear as a child.
“He (Khabib) questioned my ability on fatherhood,” Tony McGregor told ESPN.
“His own father forced him to fight animals. That’s almost barbaric to me, it’s the dark ages. What kind of father would force his son to fight bears, even if they’ve been de-clawed, in the 21st century that would almost constitute child abuse.”
Khabib’s coach Abdulmanap admitted the Russian fighter was indeed the young child in the famous video.
“Firstly, a child always wants his father to see what his son is capable of,” Abdulmanap told ToFight.Ru.
“It is a pity that there was nothing more interesting when he was younger. In the end, this was a test of character more than exercise.”
Meanwhile, despite Khabib’s insane wrestling preparation from the age of five years, Tony McGregor wasn’t one bit concerned about his son’s ability to match the Russian.
“Excuse me for a moment while I yawn, honestly. This argument (about wrestling) bores me. I’ve looked at this every which way,” McGregor said.
“Even up until last night I was looking at Khabib’s fights. He’s slow, he’s sloppy, he’s predictable. There’s nothing in Khabib’s arsenal that Conor fears. Nothing!
“Conor’s camp is possibly the most awesome camp to date. He’s in peak physical condition. His power is unbelievable. Khabib is too slow. He won’t see this coming. Conor’s power, Conor’s speed, Conor’s precision — Khabib has nothing to counter that.”
McGregor will fight Nurmagomedov in Las Vegas on October 7 (AEST).
