Byron Scott on Michael Jordan: Black Jesus was a man playing against boys
Byron Scott on Michael Jordan: The dude was um a man playing against boys damn near. I mean he was one of those guys…I didn't fear anybody but when I played against him, I said ‘I ain't pissing him off’. That's the only guy I was looking at like ‘I ain't going to piss him off’. If he hit a shot I’d be like ‘good shot, good shot MJ’ (laughs). I said I ain't pissing him off because I've seen him go for 40, 50 like it ain't nothing. Because you know some guys being aggressive or trying to be overly physical with him… I ain't pissing him off, everybody else I don't give a sh*t but him? Black Jesus? I ain't messing with him like that.

Byron Scott on Michael Jordan: ‘He was coming off a bus and I had hurt my ankle two games prior or something, and he gets off the bus and he says ’B, what's up?’, I said ‘What's up, MJ’. He said ‘I heard you ain't playing tonight’, and I said ‘Nah’, he said ‘What's wrong?’, I said ‘my ankle’. He said ‘Damn… Who’s going to guard me?’, I said ‘Anthony Peeler’. He said ‘the rookie? 50 (points). I said ‘You going to give him 50?’ And he said ‘I was going to give you 50, but it's him.’ (…) He had 54. -via YouTube / January 31, 2025
It was clear to everyone that the 1998 season would be the last for this dynasty, had Phil Jackson been given another year contract do you think the ‘four-peat’ would have been achieved? Randy Brown: It was weird because after that season there was a strike. If there wasn’t a strike, Phil Jackson probably would have come back because he was hurting physically during that season. He talked about having surgery and possibly not coaching anymore, so the NBA going on strike pushed him to say, ‘let me go ahead and do the surgery while there’s no basketball at all’. We clearly would have won another championship. We were in our prime, we were healthy, and we were hungry. The two years Michael went away to play baseball, that’s two more possible championships. During those winning seasons, we were mentally tired, but somehow during every season, we’d find our groove to championship. So, yes, if Phil Jackson hadn’t had that surgery, Michael comes back, we have the same core and we get a chance to defend our championship until somebody knocks us off. -via rotogrinders.com / January 30, 2025
U.S. Integrity notified sportsbooks—and the NBA—that unusual wagers were coming in on Rozier failing to meet certain statistical benchmarks, such as the total number of points or rebounds he would record in the game. Some of the sportsbooks stopped accepting bets on Rozier’s stats that day, people familiar with the matter said. During the previous two seasons, U.S. Integrity sent out just three alerts about NBA games, people familiar with the matter said. Two of those were about games involving Porter. The other was the game involving Rozier. Rozier started for the Hornets against the New Orleans Pelicans that night seemingly fit to play. He had been one of Charlotte’s best players, averaging 35 minutes and 21 points a game. In this game, however, Rozier played just over nine minutes before being substituted out during a timeout. He left with a foot injury and didn’t return. Rozier would miss the remaining eight games for the struggling Hornets, who at the time were owned by Michael Jordan. -via Wall Street Journal / January 30, 2025
