Burnley sign forwards Edwards and Banel
Burnley have brought in two new forwards on deadline day - Sporting's Marcus Edwards on loan and Ajax's Jaydon Banel for an undisclosed fee.
Banel, 20, has signed a four-and-a-half-year deal with Scott Parker's promotion-chasing Clarets.
Former England Under-20 international Edwards, 26, who started his career at Tottenham where he worked under Parker in the Spurs academy, has spent the past three years with the Portuguese giants.
"We had a good relationship back then so when I knew he wanted me to come that was enough for me," he said. "From knowing what he's like and how he is and the fact that Burnley is such a big club in general. It made sense."
"It feels amazing to be here," said Amsterdam-born Banel. "I see a lot of options here for me to show my qualities. I immediately had a good feeling about coming here. It's a new chapter in my football career."
Burnley are third in the Championship, having conceded only nine goals in 30 league matches.
However, they have struggled to score goals this season and five of their past seven Championship matches have finished goalless.
They are at home to Oxford United on Tuesday evening before facing Premier League club Southampton in the FA Cup fourth round on Saturday.
