The boxing world has been rocked by the tragic death of German fighter Musa Yamak, who collapsed inside the ring in a devastating incident in Munich.

Onlookers were left shocked and saddened when the undefeated fighter fell to the canvas during a fight in Germany over the weekend that was being streamed to a live audience.

Coming into the contest against Hamza Wandera with an 8-0 record, Turkish-born Yamak was rocked by a big shot from his opponent in the second round.

He tried to come out in the third round but collapsed to the canvas in frightening scenes.

The referee immediately stopped the fight and the event was cancelled as doctors rushed to Yamak's aid and he was swiftly transported to hospital.

However, the fighter was soon pronounced dead with officials revealing he had suffered a fatal heart attack.

Turkish government official Hasan Turan confirmed the tragic news on social media a short time later.

“We lost our compatriot Musa Askan Yamak, a boxer from Alucra, who won European and Asian championships, at a young age after a heart attack,” he wrote on Twitter.

“I wish God’s mercy on the deceased, whom we met at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey when he came to Ankara for the competition, and my condolences to his sad family and fans.”

Boxing world pays tribute to Musa Yamak

The horrific tragedy sparked a flood of tributes from heartbroken fight fans around the world.

A Munich police spokesperson told German publication BILD: “The paramedics saw turbulent scenes of emotionally charged fans and family members on site.

“To ensure the safety of the paramedics, we sent out a lot of patrols.

“We then set up a protection corridor on site so that the paramedics could work safely and conscientiously.”

Yamak was seen sitting on his stool at the end of the second round but seemed wobbly after taking a big punch from Wandera, before he collapsed at the start of the third round.

He was sadly pronounced dead on arrival at hospital a short time later.

Yamak had only turned pro in 2017 and built up an impressive unbeaten career after winning the World Boxing Federation International title.
