Boxing star Amir Khan has brutally rejected a public apology from his estranged wife, declaring he will be filing for divorce.
Speaking in a new Snapchat video, Khan said: "So me and Faryal are not together. I have filed for a divorce."
The 30-year-old boxer's comments came soon after his estranged wife Faryal Makhdoom took to Twitter to post a message of reconciliation to Khan and his family.
In a brutal response to Makhdoom's message, in which she said the couple should, 'put their differences aside' for the sake of their child and unborn baby, Khan took to Twitter to confirm the pair would indeed split.
Unfortunately it didn't work out between Me and Faryal and we are still going ahead with the divorce. We are in good talking terms.— Amir Khan (@amirkingkhan) September 21, 2017
We have to think about our daughter Lamaisah who I will always be there for. I wish Faryal all the very best for the future— Amir Khan (@amirkingkhan) September 21, 2017
Khan also thanked Makhdoom for her apology.
Thanks to Faryal for clearing up the accusations she had made about my family in the past which were false https://t.co/smZuq9F4JN— Amir Khan (@amirkingkhan) September 21, 2017
Makhdoom quickly deleted her tweet after the realisation of her husband's public rejection.
In a video posted to snapchat, Khan also revealed that he hadn't personally been told that his wife was pregnant.
"I hear that she has just announced that she is pregnant. She didn't tell me. I had to read it on social media," he said.
"I'm always going to be there for my kids [if] we're not married. We're not together but my kids are everything to me.
"I don't know if it's true that she is pregnant or not, time will tell, but in the meantime I'm there for Lamaisah. She's everything to me."
"If there is another kid then I am going to be there to show my support and be there for Faryal, but we both think it's not healthy to be together.
"It's not healthy for the kids. I don't want my children to see us fighting. We are officially not together."
Amir and Faryal, 26, already have a three-year-old daughter called Lamaisah together but she is reportedly prepared to raise their unborn baby without the support of Amir.
A source said: "Faryal's announcement came as a shock to everyone involved but she doesn't want anything more from Amir now.
"They're back on speaking terms, trying to keep everything civil for the sake of their daughter and extended families, but the relationship is finished."
Their relationship quickly deteriorated a few weeks ago after Khan alleged his wife to be flirting with heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua.
