UFC great Mark Hunt has stunned viewers after he stopped Rugby Union great Sonny Bill Williams in his last professional fight.

SBW was entering the fight against the 48-year-old Hunt as firm favourite with an undefeated 9-0 record.

However, Hunt showed why he was one of the most feared knockout artists in the UFC when he landed a jarring right on SBW in the fourth round and knocked the New Zealander's mouthguard out.

SBW was stunned and survived the 10-count, but the barrage had only just begun.

"His eyes are not clear. He looks up at the big screen," the commentator said as SBW emerged from the corner.

And as SBW approached Hunt, the 'Super Samoan' unloaded a fury of punches that left his opponent dazed.

A huge straight right landed on SBW's chin, which all but ended the rugby union player's perfect record.

Hunt, a UFC veteran, recently lost to Paul Gallen in the boxing ring and wanted to farewell his combat sports career on a high.

And the 'Super Samoan' was able to receive the send-off he deserved after an emphatic stoppage to end the Sonny Bill Williams hype-train.

Williams and Gallen have long gone back-and-forth over a blockbuster big-money bout.

However, after years of talk it appears both will end their boxing careers in 2022.

Sonny Bill Williams considers retirement

Williams was clearly shook after the bout.

The All Blacks great admitted after the loss that he didn't know if he would return to the ring after such a hard boxing camp.

“At this stage, I’m not even sure if I’ll fight again,” Williams said after the loss.

“That could be it for me too. We’ll see how the next couple of weeks unfold.

“I’ve trained hard for this fight. I just feel sorry for my wife who had to put up with all the kids for the last couple of weeks."

Despite the hard loss, Williams was classy in his post-bout speech.

“As disappointing as it is because of what happened tonight, I’ll always be grateful for the friendships I’ve made and the life I’ve been able to live,” Williams said.

“The opportunities that sport has brought to not just myself but my close family members.

“We came from nothing, so to sit here and see the growth I’ve had as a person, as a man, also being able to see the fruits of my labour that has affected my family members has been life-changing.”
