Richard Torrez has sent the boxing world into meltdown after a frightening knockout of Marco Antonio Canedo after just 43 seconds on Sunday.

Torrez sent Canedo reeling into the ropes with a hard left hand, then followed it up with a left and right before the referee stepped in to end the fight in the opening minute.

Canedo appeared to be knocked out before hitting the canvas, face-planting horribly and laying motionless for a few seconds.

He did manage to come to soon after and rolled onto his back, with medics offering assistance in the ring as Torrez looked on.

Canedo eventually sat up and seemed aware of his surroundings, but was transferred to a local hospital as a precaution.

Torrez improved his professional record to 3-0 with three knockouts after winning a silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.

“I am happy with the result, but my thoughts right now are with Canedo,” Torrez said afterwards.

“He’s a tough man, and I have the utmost respect for him. It happens to the best of us.”

According to CompuBox, Torrez landed eight of 10 power punches he threw.

Boxing fans and commentators were left stunned by the frightening scenes and sent their well-wishes to Canedo.

"That was about as vicious KO I’ve seen in awhile. Canedo is on stool and coming around. Richard Torrez explosive with those shots," Dan Rafael tweeted.

"Destructive combination. Four clean head shots and out face first. Absolutely brutal work."

Jared Anderson scores monster KO of his own

One fight later, Jared 'Big Baby' Anderson scored a highlight KO of his own against Miljan Rovcanin, with a vicious right hook in the final seconds of the second round.

Like Torrez, Anderson remains undefeated and is now 12-0.

After the fight, Anderson said he was looking to move up the rankings and is eyeing off a fight with Filip Hrgovic next.

"Realistically, we don't know how far we are from a [Filip Hrgovic] fight," said Anderson.

"I would love that fight. Filip Hrgovic or anybody in the top 10 of the IBF or WBO, WBC. We're just looking to get some bigger names.

“Everybody keeps asking for bigger fights. We would love to have those bigger fights."
