Bodybuilding freaks move closer to MMA showdown

Two men who posses the kind of physiques no human probably should are inching closer to a meeting in an MMA ring.

Iranian weightlifter and Instagram cult figure Sajad Gharibi has long sought an opponent, so for to no avail.

It is easy to understand why most sane people would be reluctant to step into the ring with the man known as ‘The Iranian Hulk’.

‘Iranian Hulk’ Sajad Gharibi and ‘Brazilian Hulk’ Romario dos Santos Alves could be inching towards a meeting in the MMA ring.
‘Iranian Hulk’ Sajad Gharibi and ‘Brazilian Hulk’ Romario dos Santos Alves could be inching towards a meeting in the MMA ring.

Weighing in at 178 kilograms and standing at 6’2, the 27-year-old boasts what are essentially tree trunks for arms.

Gharibi is a volunteer soldier, who once famously vowed to fight ISIS.

A different opponent stands before him now – Brazilian bodybuilder Romario dos Santos Alves.

Known as the ‘Brazilian Hulk’, Alves challenged Gharibi via his own Instagram page.

“I’m going to go up to 120kg and I’m going to give a message to you, the Iranian Hulk, who is challenging me,” he write.

“I’m going to go up to 120 kilos and you’re going to go down to 120kg.

“I’m going to rip off your head.”

No details for a potential fight have been locked in as of yet, but the bodybuilding and MMA worlds will be keeping an eye out for any developments.

Gharibi was tabbed to fight British man-mountain Martyn Ford, who signed with Polish organisation Konfrontacja Sztuk Walki (KSW) in 2018.
