Bianca Andreescu provides update for fans after injury drama at Miami Open
The 22-year-old has suffered another horror setback in worrying scenes.
Bianca Andreescu has addressed her fans after she was helped off court following a horror injury during her Miami Open campaign. The former US Open champion has been fighting her way back into form after a long road of injuries since her tennis breakthrough.
The Canadian was looking strong at Indian Wells after defeating Emma Raducanu and was looking like her old-self at the Miami Open before a horror injury left the tennis world reeling. The 22-year-old was leading in the second set against Ekaterina Alexandrova on Monday when she twisted her ankle.

Andreescu could be heard crying out in pain as officials raced in to come to her aid. The 22-year-old was heard claiming: “I’ve never felt this kind of pain before," as the chair umpire and other officials did their best to help the Canadian.
In a classy show of sportsmanship for her injured rival, Alexandrova crossed the court to offer Andreescu a hug. The Canadian was helped out of the stadium in a wheelchair as her mother was seen crying in the stands.
Andreescu took to social media on Tuesday to address the injury. While the grand slam winner said it was too early to tell the significance of her ankle injury, she reiterated the pain she was in during the horrific incident.
"Woke up with a brace on my foot...anyone know what happened?" Andreescu wrote. "On a serious note tho... that was the worst pain I've ever felt... praying for nothing serious. Still waiting on official results. Thank you everyone for your thoughts and kind words, doesn't go unnoticed."

Andreescu will be hoping for nothing serious after yet another injury setback. After catapulting herself to superstardom when she won the 2019 US Open, Andreescu has battled a number of injuries.
The Canadian hurt her knee in 2020, which ruled hampered her 2021 season. Andreescu then revealed she wanted to quit tennis during the Covid-19 pandemic due to exhaustion.
This saw her skip the 2022 Australian Open due to the struggles with travel and entering the tennis bubbles during the pandemic. However, the Canadian rediscovered her passion for the sport and has been on the comeback trail in 2023.
In January, Andreescu was bundled out of the second round of the Australian Open after a dramatic implosion against little-known Spaniard, Cristina Bucsa. The Canadian squandered a match point chance in a topsy-turvy second set before going down in three sets against the World No.100.
However, she has shown signs of improvement in recent weeks and her energy around court had many fans praising a return of the Canadian. The 22-year-old will be hoping the latest blow isn't a long setback so she can continue her resurgence court.
So sad for Bibi Andreescu.
While she was on a superb ride in Miami, the former World No. 4 had to retire in her 4th round match vs Ekaterina Alexandrova due to an ankle injury... Get well soon Bianca!
