'Best day ever': Fans lose it over never-before-seen Ben Simmons feat

Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons has lit up the internet, with fans going nuts over a new element to the Aussie's game.

The 23-year-old is widely regarded as one of weakest proponents of three-point shooting among the league's superstar scorers.

A Simmons three-pointer is so rare that even an attempt from behind the arc from the Aussie becomes big news for basketball fans.

Perhaps then it was no surprise to see the reaction from fans during pre-season, when Simmons successfully hit a three against the Guangzhou Loong Lions.

Incredibly, it was the first competitive three-pointer in the Aussie's career at the 76ers.

Three-pointers a new element to Simmons’ game

Simmons and his coach revealed last month that he had been working on his shooting from behind the arc and that fans would be seeing more of it this season.

“If it’s open, I’ll take it,” Simmons told reporters.

Philadelphia coach Brett Brown said during a recent team camp that Simmons was being encouraged to add this new notch to his bow.

"I'm with him. We're going to get this thing to a level that he's comfortable with shooting," Brown told reporters during camp.

"He put in the time. If somebody didn't put in the time, I'm not with them. I don't feel a responsibility to do that where it's going to hurt the team. I don't.

"But I know what he did over the summer, and I know where I have to help him get. So my tolerance level is completely high."
