Ben Simmons rocked by ugly allegation in NBA brawl controversy

The NBA found Ben Simmons was acting as a ‘peacemaker’ when he put Minnesota Timberwolves rival Karl-Anthony Towns in a chokehold during a game on Thursday.

Simmons intervened when Philadelphia 76ers teammate Joel Embiid became engaged in a scuffle with Towns.

The 76ers maintained throughout that Simmons had been trying to separate the pair when he put his arm around Towns’ neck as the pair fell to the floor.

Both Towns and Embiid were suspended for two games as a result, but the Timberwolves are reportedly less than impressed that Simmons escaped without sanction.

Minnesota had insisted to the NBA that Simmons had been the aggressor, describing his restraint of Towns a ‘dangerous chokehold’, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

This assertion was rejected by the NBA, who agreed with referee Mark Ayotte’s ‘peacemaker’ characterisation of Simmons.

Feud spills online hours after game ends

The trash talk since hasn’t been limited to the court though.

Embiid, a well-known agitator on and off the court, quickly declared ‘I ain’t no b***h’ after the game, reiterating the provocative quote in an Instagram post and tweet several hours later.

Towns on the other hand, was having absolutely none of it.

The Timberwolves big man took to social media for a dig of his own, taking aim at Embiid’s ‘b***h’ comment and posting several images of the pair’s scuffle.

Rarely do you get the last word when it comes to Joel Embiid, who followed up with another foul-mouthed post - indicating the rivalry won’t blow over any time soon.

“That tough guy act ain’t cutting it .... you know what you are.. you know what you’ve always been - a p***y,” Embiid wrote.

“Been kicking your a** and pretty please make the playoffs before you talk. It’s a known thing that I OWN YOU.”
