'Shocked and stunned': Aussie cricket star engaged to Miss World Australia

Ben Cutting and Erin Holland have announced their engagement.

The Aussie cricket star reportedly popped the question to the former Miss World Australia at Palm Beach on the Gold Coast this week.

“It was always yes,” Holland wrote on Instagram alongside a pic of herself and Cutting with her shiny new engagement ring.

Holland recently said she wasn’t expecting Cutting to propose any time soon.

“I was silent for a bit, shocked and stunned, but I am incredibly happy,” she told the Daily Mail.

With both trotting the globe for their respective careers, their relationship has been largely a long-distance one.

“We spend a lot of time on planes but we make it work,” Holland said.

“We decided a long time ago that we would do whatever it takes to make our relationship work.”

Cutting is somewhat of a Twenty20 specialist, plying his trade in the Big Bash as well as international tournaments like the Indian Premier League and Caribbean Premier League.

The 32-year-old has previously spoken of his desire to settle down and start a family.

“Definitely, when the time is right,” he told the Courier Mail.

Holland added: “He's the kid-mad one and I'm sort of a few years away from that now but he'd have one tomorrow if he could.

“He's good friends with my manager (Morgan Barta) so I'm sure those two will sort it out and schedule it!”
