Beijing city government's PE arm says no intention to invest in Danke - statement
BEIJING, Dec 3 (Reuters) - Beijing E-town International Investment and Development Co said on Thursday it had no intention to invest in the project of Danke Apartment, the long-term leasing brand operated by cash-strapped Phoenix Tree Holdings Ltd.
The private equity firm controlled by the Beijing municipal government said in a faxed response to Reuters it had never contacted Danke Apartment project.
Reuters reported earlier in the week that Beijing E-town was in talks with Danke shareholders and was considering becoming a major investor in the latest round of financing for the company following protests of landlords, tenants and contractors in China's major cities.
Beijing E-town said the sharing economy was not an area that it would direct investment to. (Reporting by Zhang Yan, Cheng Leng and Ryan Woo; editing by David Evans)
