Australian NBA rookie Dante Exum still sleeps with a teddy bear

Australian Dante Exum may be mixing it with the big boys in the NBA, but the Utah Jazz rookie still enjoys childhood pleasures like sleeping with a stuffed animal.

The 19-year-old, originally from Melbourne, has begun life with the Jazz after he was chosen as the No.5 pick in the NBA draft.

Jazz teammate Rodney Hood has already started the friendly banter, posting this picture on Twitter of Exum sleeping and cuddling a teddy bear.

Point guard Exum is currently in Europe with the Australian national Boomers squad for the upcoming basketball World Cup.

At a warm-up event in Nice, France, Exum had his best all-round performance in the green and gold over the weekend, posting an impressive eight points, five rebounds and a game-high six assists in 21 minutes during the Boomers' 97-75 win over the Philippines.

The Boomers outclassed France overnight and will enjoy a three-day mid-tour break before reconvening in Strasbourg, France for the final two games of their preparation about Finland and France.

Australia's basketball World Cup campaign kicks off on August 31 (AEST) against Slovenia in host country Spain.
