Heartwarming same-sex marriage proposal makes NBA history

An American man has captured his boyfriend’s heart, as well as the world’s attention with a beautiful marriage proposal during an NBA game.

Knowing his partner, Michael Holtzman, was a lifelong Chicago Bulls fan Jake Conrad literally took the Bull by the horns by organising the heartwarming gesture at their home game against San Antonio.

Holtzman’s life-changing experience started with Buls’ mascot Benny walking the super-fan onto the court while The Contours’ 1962 hit “Do You Love Me” blazed over the loudspeakers.

The Bulls dancers formed an aisle for Conrad, who was awaiting his boyfriend’s entrance from the other side of the court.

Conrad got down on one knee with candy ring pop in hand, and asked the big question to his clearly emotional partner.

Judging by the pair’s warm embrace and beaming smiles from ear to ear, it’s fair to say they agreed to become each other’s husband-to-be.

In the few days since the Chicago Bulls posted the clip of the proposal on their Facebook page, it has received more than 800,000 views.

Bulls spokesman Ross Lipschultz released a statement to Outsports, the news site that reported this marked the first same-sex proposal at a NBA game.

“At the Chicago Bulls game vs. the San Antonio Spurs on December 8, the Bulls worked with Jake Conrad to set up an in-game proposal for his partner, Michael Holtzman,” Lipschultz said in the statement.

“Michael has been a lifelong Bulls fan and watches every game.

“After he once told Jake that his dream was to go to a Bulls game, Jake knew he wanted to propose to Michael at a game to show him how committed he is to making Michael’s dreams come true.

“Jake bought tickets to the game and contacted the Bulls to purchase a fan experience package to propose before the game.

“The Chicago Bulls are honored to have been part of such a special moment for this couple.”

In what has to be be a good omen for the happy couple, the Bulls ended up winning the match against the Spurs 95-91.
