Reggie Jackson fined $A34,000 for hurling abuse at fan

Detroit Pistons point guard Reggie Jackson's wallet is $A34,000 lighter after being fined by the NBA for hurling abuse at a courtside heckler during their game against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Jackson who was traded by the Thunder to Detroit last season was loudly booed on his return to the city and took exception to one fans choice words.

Th 25-year-old was benched in the fourth quarter of their 103-87 loss and as he left the floor, he was caught on camera dishing it back to the heckling fan.

After the game he was asked if a Thunder fan had said something negative to prompt his outburst, to which he replied: "probably".

Jackson then went on to bemoan consistent issue of fans abusing NBA players.

"Fans say some off-the-wall stuff. It's crazy. It's crazy how we're treated," Jackson told the Detroit Free Press.

"They get to talk to you however they want. It's reckless. I wish somebody would say something like they talk to us on the court off the court.

"It's out of control. You wouldn't talk to anybody like that off the court. They feel protected in the stands. Some fans need to be tossed."
