Joe Burns, Adam Voges and Usman Khawaja have made impressive claims for a spot in the first Test. Keep clicking to see if they made our predicted XI.
2/13
1. David Warner
Warner has overcome a broken thumb suffered in the one-day series against England and will play for NSW in the opening Sheffield Shield round.
3/13
2. Joe Burns
Burns all but stamped his ticket to the Gabba with a century for the Cricket Australia XI against the Black Caps in Canberra. He averaged 36.50 in the two Tests he played against India last summer, but was overlooked for the Ashes tour.
4/13
3. Usman Khawaja
Fans have been waiting for years for Khawaja to blossom into a Test batsman, and he is presented with the ideal opportunity right now. His international career has been a bit of a flop so far, averaging 25.13 in nine Tests. But the new Queensland skipper has been rejuvinated by his move north, and his Sheffield Shield runs can't be ignored (he has the most of any current player).
5/13
4. Steve Smith (c)
Despite calls to bat at first drop, the Aussie skipper has openly admitted he wants to bat at No.4, where he has had most success in his Test career. The former world No.1 batsman will be keen to bounce back from a disappointing Ashes series.
6/13
5. Adam Voges
Despite pressure to retain his spot, Voges will add a much-needed veteran presence in Australia's middle order. He scored a fighting 50 in the fifth Ashes Test with wickets tumbling around him, and backed it up with another half-century for the Prime Minister's XI against New Zealand.
7/13
6. Mitchell Marsh
Marsh's bowling has been a key asset for the Aussies, but he will need to improve his batting to bat in the top six.
8/13
7. Peter Nevill
The incumbent wicket keeper has shown impressive glove work in his brief Test career, but has failed to fire with the bat. With a number of contenders knocking down the door, he will be out to impress against the Black Caps.
9/13
8. Mitchell Johnson
Could this be Mitch's last home summer? Either way he is still Australia's premier fast bowler and will lead the Aussie attack.
10/13
9. Mitchell Starc
Starc has developed into the most dangerous fast bowler in world cricket and is coming off an incredible domestic one-day tournament for NSW.
11/13
10. Josh Hazlewood
Despite pressure from Peter Siddle, Hazlewood will come back into the side and enjoy the pace-friendly conditions on home soil. The youngster was man of the match in NSW's Matador Cup final victory.
12/13
11. Nathan Lyon
Australia's premier spin bowler, Lyon always plays well on home soil.
13/13
Just missing out
Cameron Bancroft, Peter Siddle and Shaun Marsh.
