Naomi Osaka has stormed into the third round of the Australian Open and set up a big clash with American Amanda Anisimova after an explosive display.

Osaka was ruthless in the first set after she swept aside Madison Brengle 6-0 after just 20 minutes on Rod Laver Arena.

The two-time Australian Open champion hit 13 winners, to Brengle's zero, in an amazing display of baseline hitting in the first set.

Brengle bounced back in the second set and was able to clinch four games, but it wasn't enough as Osaka finished the match 6-0, 6-4.

The win marked Osaka's 15th consecutive victory at Melbourne Park.

Fans, including tennis star Andy Murray, were quick to heap praise on Osaka's game.

Naomi Osaka sets up Amanda Anisimova clash

Osaka will now face exciting star Anisimova in the next round.

While Osaka would normally be the heavy favourite, Anisimova comes into the Australian Open in fantastic form.

The 20-year-old won the Melbourne Summer Set 1 tournament in the lead-up to the Australian Open.

In her latest round, she defeated Olympic gold medallist Belinda Bencic 6-2, 7-5.

Fans are eagerly waiting for the first clash between the pair.

If Osaka defeats Animisova, she could face World No.1 Ash Barty (depending on her result) in the fourth round.

Barty also bulldozed her way into the third round of the Australian Open, taking down Lucia Bronzetti in just 52 minutes on Wednesday.

The Italian was no match for Australia's World No.1 on Rod Laver Arena as Barty produced an array of slices and lob shots in a 6-1, 6-1 masterclass.
