Arsenal: Germany offer Kai Havertz injury hint with latest squad announcement
Kai Havertz has been named in the latest Germany squad despite being forced off with a head injury during Arsenal’s defeat to Inter Milan.
Havertz was substituted in the final moments of Arsenal’s 1-0 loss on Wednesday night with blood pouring from his head.
The striker clashed heads with Inter defender Yann Bisseck when competing for a cross and he had to be substituted, with Martin Odegaard coming on.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta revealed afterwards that Havertz had a “big cut” and needed to have stitches, making him a doubt for Sunday’s trip to Chelsea.
Havertz, however, was on Thursday morning named in the Germany squad for this month’s Nations League games against Bosnia & Herzegovina and Hungary.
The 25-year-old missed the last international break due to a knee issue and stayed with Arsenal.
Germany are due to meet in Frankfurt on Monday for training. They will then take on Bosnia & Herzegovina in Freiburg on Saturday, before travelling to Budapest to face Hungary three days later.
Havertz being called up will boost Arsenal fans’ hope that he could be fit to face Chelsea this weekend, in what is a huge game for the Gunners.
Arsenal may find themselves 10 points adrift of Premier League leaders Liverpool come kick-off if Arne Slot’s side beat Aston Villa on Saturday evening.
Arsenal are on a poor run of form recently and defeat to Inter on Wednesday made it three defeats in their last six games.
