Arsenal: Frida Maanum delays Norway call-up to continue assessment after on-pitch collapse
Arsenal midfielder Frida Maanum will not join up with Norway before their game against Finland on Friday after collapsing during Sunday's League Cup Final.
Maanum collapsed on the pitch towards the end of normal time during the 1-0 win over Chelsea.
She went down off the ball and was treated by medical staff on the pitch at Molineux, before being carried off on a stretcher while receiving oxygen.
Maanum had been due to join up with the Norway squad this week as they begin their Euro 2025 qualifying campaign with games against Finland and Netherlands.
But she will skip the match with Finland, as she is still being assessed by Arsenal, and remains a doubt for Norway’s game against Holland next week.
A statement from Arsenal on Wednesday said: “Frida Maanum will continue to be closely monitored by our medical team at Arsenal this week and will therefore not meet up with the Norwegian national team before their game on Friday. We are liaising closely with the Norwegian medical team.”
Maanum is understood to be stable and doing well, but she will undergo further tests this week after her collapse.
Norway manager Gemma Grainger said: “The medical department at Arsenal want to do some further observations and tests on Thursday.
“We are in dialogue with both Arsenal and Frida, and follow the situation closely. The players' health will always come first.
“A decision on whether Frida Maanum can join the national team squad at this meeting will not be made until Friday.”
