Amru Magomedov defends lightweight title vs. Alex da Silva in UAE Warriors 58 headliner
Lightweight champion Amru Magomedov will headline his third consecutive UAE Warriors event.
Magomedov (8-0) defends his title against ex-UFC fighter Alex da Silva (24-5) on Feb. 22 in Al Ain, Abu Dhabi, which airs on UFC Fight Pass. The pair have been rebooked after their vacant lightweight title bout at UAE Warriors 44 in August 2023 was scrapped.
A person with knowledge of the matchup informed MMA Junkie of the booking but asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement.
Training with Khabib Nurmagomedov's team, Magomedov notched his first title defense when he submitted Ali Kabdulla (9-3-1) at UAE Warriors 51 this past July. The 25-year-old has finished six of his eight professional wins.
Meanwhile, da Silva has gone 3-1 since parting ways with the UFC. The Brazilian is on a three-fight winning streak, most recently defeating Dinislam Kamavov by unanimous decision at UAE Warriors 46.
