Amorim defends Onana as Man Utd number one
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim says Andre Onana's mistake at Viktoria Plzen on Thursday will not define him, as the Reds look to win at Manchester City on Sunday.
Amorim was asked about the Cameroon international after Onana's loose pass led to Matej Vydra's opening goal in the Europa League match.
"Yeah we have to take it like it is," said the United boss. "He had already in the past a situation like that. So we have to work on this.
"If you see the play, we are trying to build up a lot with the goalkeeper making the balls with [Matthijs de Ligt] a lot of times. This time we have a disconnect a little bit during the play and when we tried this, we suffered a goal. A difficult goal for us in the start of the second half."
A Rasmus Hojlund double turned the game on its head as United won 2-1.
Amorim says that if such a mistake happens, it is the responsibility of the team to turn it round, much in the same way as it is Onana's responsibility to make big saves to help the Reds gain points too.
"We managed [Viktoria], not like against Nottingham," he added. "We managed to help Onana, like he did in the past for us."
