Alex de Minaur and Katie Boulter bumped as Jannik Sinner and Anna Kalinskaya captivate tennis world

Alex de Minaur and Katie Boulter have long been the talk of the tennis world in recent months due to their form on the court and their relationship off it. However, tennis superstar Jannik Sinner has taken the spotlight since Roland Garros due to his new relationship with tennis star Anna Kalinskaya. And he had fans swooning over his kind words for his girlfriend after his latest triumph.

Sinner won his first ever grass court tournament having defeated Hubi Hurkacz in the Halle final. The Italian World No.1 is enjoying a remarkable season after he won the Australian Open, reached the semi-final of Roland Garros and now lifting a grass court tournament trophy.

And the young Italian showed class in his victory speech as he sent his thoughts to Kalinskaya. The 25-year-old Russian was playing in the Berlin Championships. She went down to American Jessica Pegula in the final in devastating fashion having earned a number of championship points.

And Sinner was quick to send his thoughts to his girlfriend in a classy post-match speech. "My girlfriend, Anna, played in Berlin today. She lost with six match points. I am very sorry for her," Sinner said as the crowd cheered. "She also had an amazing week."

Having both made their respective finals, a day earlier, Kalinskaya admitted in an interview she was very happy for Sinner and was just trying to be 'as good as him' on the court after the Italian's incredible year. "I am just trying to be a little bit as good as him," Kalinskaya said smiling. "He has had amazing year...congratulations to him."

Unfortunately, only Sinner managed to lift the trophy as both begin their Wimbledon preparations with a great start to their grass court campaigns. De Minaur and Boulter were the talk of the tennis world last week when they won ATP and WTA titles on the same day, but this week all the chat was around Sinner and Kalinskaya.

Sinner reached the semi-final last year at Wimbledon and the in-form Italian is finding his feet again ahead of SW19. And Sinner admitted winning Halle has given him plenty of confidence going into the third grand slam of the year. "It means a lot. It was a tough match against Hubi," Sinner said.

"I'm just looking forward to it. Last year I made semis, I played some good tennis. So let's see what's coming this year. I'm more confident for sure. And on this surface, obviously the grass it might be a bit different from here and Wimbledon. But I have one week now to prepare it so hopefully it's going to be a good tournament."

Sinner admitted his first title on grass had boosted his confidence. "I knew I had to serve really well and you play only a couple of really important points throughout the whole set," he added.

"I'm very happy about this title because the first time on grass court, it's a good feeling." While Sinner will enter as one of the strong favourites, Novak Djokovic looks ready to tackle the tournament having arrived at Wimbledon amid a wave of uncertainty around whether he will compete after undergoing knee surgery.
