A'JA WILSON: You know, when you go to USA, it's like, it's no longer about just you as an individual. It's kind of like the role that you bring, what can you bring to the table, and consistently do that. So for me, I was pretty young. I was able to play on [INAUDIBLE] 18, Junior Olympics twice. So I was very grateful for that moment. I was like a baby.
And I had a chance to be with Coach Staley before I actually got to play with her for four years. So it's pretty cool to see her in her USA mindset versus South Carolina mindset. And we used to, no lie, we would hate when Coach Staley went to USA, because then she'll come back thinking that we were all Olympians, and we weren't. So it's a sense of pride and like, honor. And you want to represent, not only yourself but your country, the best way you can.
My journey has been pretty cool. Fingers crossed that I could compete this summer. But at the end of the day, you just got to do you at all times, and just be consistent. I'm just glad to be kind of in the number and be along, and play alongside these legends that I normally don't play against, because it is quite refreshing. Because in your market, you're kind of the "it" person. You're that person to go to.
But then when it comes to USA, you don't have to worry necessarily as much as, oh my god, I've got to get this bucket. So it is refreshing to kind of be in it. It's kind of hard to believe that we had these mini camps, and still USA is still so successful. So I'm just glad to be in the number.
