Rampe to miss five weeks with freak broken arm

The Sydney Swans will be without Dane Rampe for at least five weeks after the All Australian defender broke his arm on Monday morning.

Swans coach John Longmire told reporters that Rampe was on a run with teammates when he jumped over a chain but fell and landed on his arm.

"At the moment it looks like a five-week injury," Longmire said.

"I couldn't believe it to be honest, to fall on it trying to jump the chain then falling on the concrete 20 metres from the front door.

"He has a crack just below his elbow and at this stage I have been told it is a minimum of five weeks."

Rampe's injury is a bitter blow for the Swans after suffering a shock loss to Port Adelaide at the SCG on Saturday afternoon.

Sydney were in the contest for the first two quarters but trailed for the entire second half on their way to a 28-point defeat.

Midfielder Dan Robinson, 22, suffered a collarbone injury in the loss and will miss eight weeks.

Rampe is the second big name to be ruled out of the grand final rematch, with the Dogs to be missing 34-year-old defender Dale Morris.

Morris broke his leg late in the Bulldogs' win over Collingwood on Friday and will spend at least six weeks on the sidelines.
