Hawthorn star faces MRP scrutiny after late elbow
Hawthorn's Liam Shiels could be cited by the AFL's Match Review Panel after an incident during the JLT Community Series match against Geelong.
The incident happened in the first quarter of the clash at University of Tasmania Stadium, when Shiels caught Geelong's Darcy Lang with a late shot to the head.
Lang managed to get away a handball just before Shiels appeared to elbow the Cats player in the head.
The contact caused Lang's head and neck to snap back and it could leave Shiels in a spot of bother when the MRP release their findings.
Better news for the Hawks came in the return of their inspirational skipper Jarryd Roughead, who was playing his first match since being declared cancer-free.
Roughead marked his comeback with a goal from a close-range snap in the first quarter that helped the Hawks race away with a 41-point lead at halftime.
