‘Celebration of Football’ Week on Seven

The countdown to the AFL Finals Series will go to another level on Friday night as a cavalcade of the game’s all-time greats return to the field for the Victoria v All-Stars EJ Whitten Legends Game at Etihad Stadium, starting at
7.30pm AEST on Channel 7 and 7mate.

Channel Seven’s commentary team will be set up at ground level for the Legends Game on Friday night and AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan will also join the broadcast for the entire third quarter of the match.

The commentary box will be positioned near the interchange benches of both teams so players can join the broadcast mid-match.

In addition to that initiative, a group of players will wear microphones during the game, including regular Channel Seven commentators Wayne Carey, Matthew Richardson, Cameron Lingand media personality Sam Pang as well as former playing superstars like Jonathan Brown, Dermott Brereton and Jason Akermanis.

Channel Seven commentator Tim Watson will also be a central figure throughout the night in his role as coach of the Victorian team.

Then on Saturday night, the women All-Stars take centre stage as the best female footballers in Australia are allocated to two teams, the Western Bulldogs and Melbourne, and take to Whitten Oval for a special exhibition match.

It will be women’s football like you have never seen it before, live and in prime time with mid-game interviews with players as well as two big names, Melbourne’s captain for the match Daisy Pearce and Western Bulldogs’ star player Katie Brennan, both wearing microphones.
