Footy legend and radio presenter Brendan Fevola has returned to the field for a Division 3 dust-up in Melbourne’s northeast.

The 43-year-old full-forward donned brown and gold for Heidelberg West in their game against Fitzroy Stars on Saturday.

The Stars started strong following kick-off at 2.10pm with 16 points in the first quarter, 35 in the second, 43 in the third.

Fevola and the Hawks scrapped in with some 25 points in the final quarter, ultimately losing by 46 points to the Stars.

The guest appearance is the second time Fevola, a Coleman Medal winner, for the Northern Football Netball League.

Fevola took the field playing for Hurstbridge in 2016, before joining the Hawks following a sponsorship with General Chicken Co owner, Nuri Sadiku.

Heidelberg West president Craig Toohey told the Herald Sun the club had been looking to bring in a marquee player and Fevola was the ideal candidate.

“We’ve never really done the marquee player before and we’ve lost a couple of players overseas so we had the points,” Mr Toohey said on Tuesday.

“We thought why not, we looked into it and threw up a few names and that didn’t work out.

“We’ve got a connection, Fev plays SuperRules with our sponsor Nuri at General Chicken Co, he asked if he was interested and before you know it he agreed.

“We’ve got our past players day as well, we’ve had a lot of messages, so hopefully everything clicks into place and it will be a good day.”

Making Carlton Football Club in 1998 AFL Draft, Fevola made his debut in the 1999 season with 42 goals; despite Carlton finishing last for that year.

Over more than a decade, Fevola scored a total of 623 goals in 204 games both for Carlton Football Club and with the Brisbane Lions from 2010.

He went on to become a regular panellist on The Footy Show, before joining Fox FM to host Fifi, Dave, Fev and Byron from 2016 until 2017.

More recently, he starred on 10’s I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here and as the Captain last year on The Masked Signer Australia.
