Parachutist injured in heavy crash-landing at SCG
The start of Saturday's AFL match between Sydney and West Coast was delayed when a military parachutist crash-landed and was knocked unconscious.
Red Berets were taking part in a special pre-match ceremony for Anzac Day commemorations when one spiraled out of control and landed heavily.
A team of five parachutists dropped into the SCG to deliver the official game ball when the third out of five hit the turf very hard, despite his chute being open.
Medical crews immediately rushed to the man's aid with Swans doctors among the first on scene.
After a delay of several minutes the man reportedly regained consciousness.
He was placed on a stretcher and carted off the field on a medi-cab.
He was taken by ambulance to hospital with a suspected broken pelvis but is expected to make a full recovery.
