Former Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley has revealed the depths of his fallout with Adam Treloar after the gun midfielder's acrimonious split from the club.

At the end of the 2020 season, Treloar was traded from Collingwood to the Bulldogs in controversial circumstances that saw partner Kim Ravaillion dragged into the mess.

That was despite Treloar signing a five-year contract worth a reported $4.5m with the Magpies in 2019, and insisting that he wanted to remain at the club.

Collingwood claimed they were worried that Treloar would struggle being away from Ravaillion and their new baby when she signed to play Super Netball for the Queensland Firebirds.

The Pies said it was in Treloar's best interests to seek a trade to a Queensland club, despite his repeated insistence that he wanted to stay and see out the remainder of his lucrative contract.

The Pies eventually sent Treloar to the Dogs, with Jaydn Stephenson and winger Tom Phillips also following him out the door as Collingwood sought to ease salary cap pressures.

Last year, the Western Bulldogs star broke down in tears discussing the impact the messy situation had on himself and his partner.

Speaking on SEN's breakfast show in his role as a new co-host, Buckley revealed that he still hasn't met with Treloar to discuss the controversy.

Buckley - who was also at the centre of bombshell claims that senior Collingwood players wanted Treloar gone - also went on to reveal that the 28-year-old has not responded to his attempts to reach out to the Dogs star.

Nathan Buckley has not spoken with Adam Treloar after exit

“I’ve dropped him (Treloar) a line a couple of times. We’re still yet to speak,” he told SEN.

The former Magpies coach said he hoped to make peace with Treloar in a similar way he had done with fellow discard, Phillips.

“I had a coffee with Tom Phillips, he reached out and said, ‘G’day, I’ve been thinking about you a little bit’, and we sat down and had a coffee last week.

“A very similar situation. He still had a year to run on his contract and (I) had to have those conversations with him and he moved on to Hawthorn.

“I still haven’t been able to sit down with ‘Ads’. Now that may or may not happen. I’d be up for it, but it needs to be something that he’s comfortable with as well.

“He’s got a full life, a young family, and at a new club full of football commitments. “If and when the time is right. I’d love to connect with Ads again.”

Ravaillion was scathing of Collingwood after Treloar's trade and took aim at suggestions her signing to play netball in Queensland with the Firebirds was to blame for the fiasco.

"All those lies were not the reason they got rid of him, there was another reason (the club's salary cap)," she said at the time.

"It was an emotional roller-coaster. They (Collingwood) started to say to Adam, 'It's bad for your mental health, you won't be able to handle the move', and Adam said, 'That's up to me, it's not up to you to decide.

"Then they started to blame it on me. They were making excuses for why he's going when in actual fact they just wanted him gone."
