AFL great Jimmy Bartel has shown off his new romance with Amelia Shepperd after his divorce with ex-wife Nadia was finalised earlier this year.

The Geelong Cats champion separated from Nadia in 2019 and started a relationship with Lauren Mand.

However the relationship with Mand broke down just months ago and Bartel has since moved on with Shepperd.

Bartel took to Instagram on Thursday with a photo of himself kissing Shepperd on a boat in Sydney harbour.

The 37-year-old wrote “happy” on the photo and tagged Shepperd.

Details around the new romance are scant, however Shepperd appears to be based in Melbourne.

She reportedly works as an executive assistant for Queensland Rugby Football League.

Jimmy and Nadia finalised their divorce in August after their five-year marriage came to an end.

A former glamour couple of the AFL, the Bartels have two sons together - five-year-old Aston and two-year-old Henley.

Last year, Nadia opened up about some of the nasty fallout she received after her split with Jimmy, detailing some awful social media abuse.

“This is never what I thought would happen,” Nadia told ‘Stellar’ Magazine.

The business owner and fashion designer said she’s had to deal with some horror trolling online, with social media users saying Jimmy had ‘upgraded’.

“Being from Melbourne, football is so big here,” she said.

“I was used to the negative attention I get in my situation. I do put things on social media, so I've put myself out there.

“(But) I was at the hardest point in my life and then to have articles written that weren't true, and to have hundreds of hate (comments) on Instagram and the continual pounding ... it was difficult.

“Just because (you) date or are married to a sportsperson, people think you're fair game; you can say whatever you want. If you look at any other industry, do you critique their partner like that?”

Nadia said she was focusing on being the best mother for her sons.

"I want to continue to be the best mum and role model for my sons,” she said.

“They are amazing and such a gift, and I want them to have a really happy childhood. I plan to do everything I can to make that happen for them.”

Bartel played 305 games for Geelong over a 14-year career in the AFL, winning the Brownlow Medal in 2007 and the Norm Smith Medal in 2011.
