AEW Dynamite results, highlights (Oct. 23): Chris Jericho wins ROH World Championship, Blackpool invades again
Unlike the AEW World Championship belt, we are BACK!
Join Uncrowned as we run through the latest episode of "AEW Dynamite," which shifted from WrestleDream recovery to full steam ahead toward Full Gear. Wednesday's show featured six matches and had a major title change hands.
Much like last week, viewers were treated to a video package featuring the path of destruction carried out by AEW World Champion Jon Moxley (sans belt) and the Blackpool Combat Club. We also saw nearly the entire AEW locker room armed and ready for a fight in a Salt Lake City parking lot (plenty more on this later).
'Hangman' Adam Page opens
Tony Schiavone was set to interview Page to kick things off, and the heel launched right into a promo on the Bang Bang Gang before being attacked by Colton Gunn. Page eventually gained the upper hand and was about to whip Gunn with his belt before Juice Robinson and "Switchblade" Jay White bolted in for the save.
As Page sold a leg injury while retreating up the ramp, White called him out, reminding us all that he's 4-1 against Page and ominously teasing "we're not done yet."
Sammy Guevara vs. Shelton Benjamin
Another really impressive showing from Benjamin, who is rapidly rising up the AEW ranks. This win hits home a little more than the Lio Rush one last week in terms of selling Benjamin as a dangerous force because it came over an AEW OG in Guevara.
As Benjamin stacks wins, it adds a layer of credibility and intrigue to MVP's various pitches to AEW talent to join their stable. Just a really exciting and meaningful opening match.

Winner: Shelton Benjamin
Mariah May interview
The announce team tossed it backstage for a Renee Paquette interview with AEW Women's Champion Mariah May. May was seen exiting the women's locker room with a suitcase, which she revealed belonged to Anna Jay and flung it down the hallway. May said Jay doesn't belong in the same ring or locker room as her before being attacked. Jay defeated May in an eliminator match to earn a shot at the AEW Women's Championship in the future.
(Note: May did not have her title either — bizarre!)
Kyle Fletcher calls out Will Ospreay
Stick with me on this one.
Everyone knows how to assemble a burger, right? Two buns, meat, toppings, condiments, etc. — not exactly rocket science.
Kyle Fletcher's promo on Wednesday night had all of the ingredients to be legitimately great, he just forgot what goes where in the proverbial burger. I LOVED him cutting his hair (lettuce, as the kids say; see what I did there?), and there was a potentially coherent thread as he rehashed his history with Will Ospreay, but it all came across a bit ramble-y and disjointed, jumping back and forth from shunning comparisons to the Aerial Assassin and referencing what he taught him. The fans even picked up on it, chanting "wrap it up" at one point.

Fletcher vs. Ospreay is going to be a huge match when it happens. Despite Fletcher seeking to meet Ospreay face-to-face next week on "Dynamite," I believe we need a little more of a build here and think (read: hope) this match won't happen anywhere except Full Gear.
MVP makes his play for Ricochet
After a quick recap of the action from last weekend's Maple Leaf Pro show (which featured AEW International Champion Konosuke Takeshita and a surprise Ricochet appearance), Paquette spoke with Ricochet. Ricochet laid out a challenge for Takeshita before being confronted by Benjamin and MVP.
MVP complimented Ricochet's suit (wardrobe foreshadowing?) and handed him a business card, which was not immediately discarded.

Brian Cage and Lance Archer vs. ?????
The Chokeslam Powerbomb finisher was very cool. We didn't even get to see the names of the team the Murder Hawk and the Machine obliterated.
Winners: Brian Cage and Lance Archer
Chris Jericho vs. Mark Briscoe in Ladder War for the ROH World Championship
Before the match, we cut back to the parking lot, with AEW producer Chuck Taylor summoning Kyle O'Reilly and Orange Cassidy back into the building for their Conglomeration member's match. Taylor pulled Cassidy aside and pleaded with him to stop Moxley and BCC.
"It's about damn time you step up"

Turning our attention to the ring, Jericho and Briscoe upped the ante from their match at WrestleDream, facing off in a Ladder War match which got violent, fast.
Despite getting pushed through two tables set up outside the ring relatively early, Jericho maintained the advantage for a good portion of the match. Briscoe wound up getting busted open (with eagle-eyed viewers catching a little extracurricular action) before absolutely stealing the show.
I was initially going to give the "best spot" commendation to Briscoe's cannonball through the rope onto Jericho and a ladder, but then he decided to climb to the top of the bigger ladder and hit a Froggybow on Jericho through a table. Unreal.

Pre-Froggybow, we did get some Learning Tree shenanigans, of course, as Bryan Keith came out before getting chased away by Rocky Romero. After the devastating maneuver, Big Bill emerged and put Briscoe through two tables before carrying Jericho up the ladder to secure the Ring of Honor World Championship.

These two have put on two really entertaining matches over the past few weeks. I'd certainly be game for a rubber contest.
Winner (And New): Chris Jericho
Adam Cole promo
For the second week in a row, Cole came out to talk to/address MJF, but before he could get started, he was interrupted by his pals in the Undisputed Kingdom. (We really dig the shirts/logo here at Uncrowned.)
The little pow-wow/reunion between Cole, Roderick Strong, Mike Bennett, and Matt Taven took an interesting turn as Strong said he wanted to face MJF first.
Naturally, MJF interjected himself via video while receiving a massage. The former AEW World Champion taunted both Strong and Cole before revealing he would not appear before Full Gear and that if either wanted a match against him at the pay-per-view, they'd have to win three matches in a row.
📝 Book it! MJF specifically said "first" to three consecutive wins — we have to have Cole and Strong double pin and make this a triple threat at Full Gear.
Cleaning House (of Black)
After a promo where Jamie Hayter challenged Penelope Ford to a match in two weeks, we got another squash match — 33% of the night's in-ring contests were squashes — but at least we got the names this time: Kevin Koa, Jaden Monroe, and Pirata De La Muerte.
House of Black cruised here and Buddy Matthews challenged Adam Cole to a match next week before calling him "fragile" backstage.
Winner: House of Black
Kamille vs. Queen Aminata
A week after facing Mercedes Moné, Queen Aminata was back on "Dynamite" taking on the TBS champion's muscle, Kamille. A lot like last week's contest, there was little doubt that the unbeaten-in-AEW Kamille was going to win here, especially considering that the company was promoting a showdown between her and Kris Statlander for the October 30th episode of "Dynamite."
All of that being said, it's time for the...
👑 Uncrowned Gem of the Night 👑
Every queen deserves a crown, so here's yours, Queen Aminata. Two weeks in a row — albeit in losing efforts — Aminata has managed to impress and look strong against two of the top women in the division, even drawing "A-min-at-a" chants from the crowd on Wednesday.
Can Queen Aminata get the upset?!

If we're gonna peer into our crystal ball and book next week's Statlander-Kamille match, look for the Brickhouse to win and possibly beat down on Statlander with Moné (much like they did tonight) before Aminata runs out for the save.
Winner: Kamille
Hook confronts Christian Cage
The camera cut to the parking lot with the AEW locker room still awaiting Blackpool's arrival. Instead, a black SUV pulled up and the Patriarchy emerged. Christian Cage caught sight of Kip Sabian and chased him to the ring.
Paquette caught up with Hook, who had promised to reveal and punish his father Taz's attacker. Hook made a beeline for the ring and attacked Cage before being overwhelmed by the numbers game — including Sabian.

The Elite (Jack Perry and The Young Bucks) vs. Daniel Garcia and Private Party
The main event began around 9:50 p.m. ET and we hadn't seen Blackpool live at all tonight, so you knew something was brewing. Daniel Garcia emerged wearing an AEW shirt (btw read Cameron Hawkins' excellent piece from earlier in the week) and made his way to the ring alongside Private Party.
More than anything of consequence inside the ring — it was a solid, but chaotic trios contest — the biggest developments came after Private Party's Isiah Kassidy picked up the pin and challenged the Young Bucks to a rematch. To sweeten the deal and get the EVPs to accept, Kassidy said if Private Party loses, they will split up. That match will happen on next week's show.
As this all unfolded, Blackpool's pickup truck finally pulled into the parking lot, but only Marina Shafir emerged. Wheeler Yuta and Claudio Castagnoli sneakily attacked Private Party and Daniel Garcia, while Moxley dragged Chuck Taylor to the ring. BCC set Taylor's neck up in a chair and stomped on it before the locker room — and Orange Cassidy — could make the save.
