Aussie spinner Adam Zampa has continued his blistering form having taken three wickets to help the Rajasthan Royals defeat the Chennai Super Kings. Zampa has been one of the best spinner's in the world in the short-format for some time and has carried over his international form to the Indian Premier League as he took 3-22 off three overs.

Zampa has spent time on the sideline since his signing, but the Royals would have been thanking the spinner for his contribution after being a late call-up for the injured Trent Boult. Zampa has only played two games all season, but will be in contention to remain in the line-up as Ravi Ashwin and him took five-wickets in the 32-run victory.

"I have been playing cricket for a long time, you've got to be mentally ready and prepared for whoever you are playing against," the 31-year-old said afterwards. "Train a little bit, and enjoy the poolside ..."

Zampa dismissed the third-highest run scorer of the competition, New Zealand opener Devon Conway, who was caught at mid-off for just eight in his first over. Ruturaj Gaikwad looked the key threat having hammered 47 off 29 balls, but Zampa beat him with flight and had him caught brilliantly by Devdutt Padikkal running in from long-on.

When he also got Moeen Ali caught behind from an under-edge in the 15th over, Chennai's hopes were effectively buried, as he worked in tandem with master Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin (2-35 off four) to restrict them to 6-170.

"To get a couple of wickets was a nice feeling," Zampa said, after admitting he observed Chennai's Maheesh Theekshana during his spell against his team. "I watched Theekshana bowling with a little bit of extra pace and a little bit shorter than usual. Hopefully, the ball skids on a bit and does its job."

He did his job expertly, helping ensure Rajasthan are now top of the table again on 10 points, ahead of Gujarat Titans and Chennai on net run-rate. Fans were full of praise for the Aussie international.

Adam Zampa continues rare form

In March, Zampa showcased why he is one of the game's premier spinners with his performances in India. Zampa helped Australia clinch victory against India after taking 4-45 in a game-changing partnership with fellow spinner Ashton Agar.

Australia defeated India to clinch a 2-1 series win after the Aussie spinners turned the match when it appeared the hosts were in control at 2-146 in response to Australia's 269.

Zampa was sensationally snubbed when he wasn't nominated for ODI player of the year at the recent Australian Cricket Awards. The leg-spinner was nowhere to be seen when the nominations for Aussie ODI player of the year were announced, with David Warner, Head and Steve Smith named ahead of him.
