Adam Zampa's message to Test selectors after brutal snub for India tour
The leg-spinner took three wickets in the Sheffield Shield on Monday in a timely reminder to Aussie selectors.
Adam Zampa has sent a timely reminder to Australia's Test selectors after being overlooked for the current tour of India. The leg-spinner was left miffed when he wasn't picked to tour India, with the likes of Todd Murphy, Ashton Agar and Mitchell Swepson given the nod ahead of him.
But Zampa showed selectors that he isn't just a white ball cricketer on Monday, snaring three wickets for NSW in the Sheffield Shield against Tasmania. Zampa picked up 3-41 in his first Shield outing for the Blues at the SCG for several seasons.

The leg-spinner had Ben McDermott caught at mid-on for 50, before trapping Jarrod Freeman lbw for 7 and bowling Nathan Ellis through the gate for 20. The display came as a friendly reminder to Test selectors that Zampa isn't just a white-ball specialist.

“I was close. I got told from (selector) George Bailey and (coach) Andrew McDonald that it was one of the toughest (decisions) they had to make for the tour. I’m very disappointed, I would have loved to be on it,” Zampa said last month after being snubbed for India.
“I thought with the way I’ve been going in international cricket in particular this was going to be my opportunity. That was the messaging I got six weeks ago, this could be a very good chance I could be on it. Now I’m not I’m very flat about it.
“I was really excited to be on this tour. I thought I’d give it a crack and the messaging was my style of bowling might have been handy over there. But potentially last minute there was a change of mind.”
Zampa was again overlooked when Swepson flew home to be at the birth of his first child this week, with Queensland left-armer Matthew Kuhnemann replacing him. Fans and commentators were happy to see Zampa perform well on Monday.

I was saying this since they released their team for India tour. Zampa is crucial but they didn't pick him...

Underrated. He should have been selected.

NSW set up final-day thriller with generous declaration
Winless so far this Shield season, NSW gambled with a generous declaration late on day three. With showers predicted on day four in Sydney, the Blues declared late in the third session on Monday at 1-105, setting Tasmania a relatively modest victory target of 287.
Tasmania's openers survived a tricky eight-over period to end the day at 0-6. Daniel Hughes again led the way for the Blues, backing up his career-best 178 in the first innings with 63 not out.
Hughes recorded six boundaries in his 78-ball innings as NSW scored at just over four an over before declaring. Earlier, Tasmania successfully held up NSW's push thanks to some determined defiance from McDermott and Beau Webster (75 not out).
The pair chewed up 148 and 150 balls respectively, with NSW needing 104 overs before dismissing Tasmania for 236 to give themselves a 181-run lead on the first innings. Sean Abbott snared figures of 3-40, while Chris Tremain took 2-41.
NSW are stranded at the bottom of the Sheffield Shield table without a victory after six rounds. However they are only two wins out of second place in a tightly-packed ladder. Tasmania are currently fifth, but are one of four teams with two wins on the season.
