'Absolutely disgusting': Chaos erupts after Khabib beats McGregor

All hell has broken loose after Khabib Nurmagomedov beat Conor McGregor at UFC 229.

Khabib submitted McGregor in the fourth round on Sunday in their lightweight title fight, then leaped over the top of the cage to go after McGregor teammate Dillon Danis, a Bellator fighter.

The submission came at 3:03 of the fourth.

A huge scrum of people got together near the cage, including police officers, members of both teams and members of the Nevada Athletic Commission.

It was against the fence where fans were seated.

After the scrum was broken up, UFC president Dana White said “People are going to get arrested tonight.” Nurmagomedov responded, “Put me in jail. No problem.”

A man in a red T-shirt jumped over the cage and landed four punches on McGregor.

Nurmagomedov controlled the fight and had McGregor on his back for much of the bout. McGregor had a better third round and kept it standing, but never landed a significant punch.

In the fourth, Nurmagomedov took McGregor down and worked to get his back. He put on a choke and forced a quick tap.

When Nurmagomedov released the hold, he got up and immediately raced to the side of the cage, leaped over and appeared to go after Danis.

Nurmagomedov was pulled from the scrum after about five minutes and escorted to the back. McGregor did not appear to get involved.

He was removed from the Octagon with a heavy police and security presence after about 15 minutes.

“That was absolutely disgusting,” commentator Joe Rogan said.

“It’s terrible for the sport.”

No belt was presented and no speeches made, but the ring announcer declared Nurmagomedov the winner to a chorus of boos of the crowd.

The victory stretched his professional record to 27-0 and handed the Irishman his second defeat in the UFC.

But fans and pundits were left in total shock by the disgraceful scenes.
