Lakers rookie Lonzo Ball takes blame for loss against Jazz

As the No. 2 pick in this year's NBA Draft, there was high anticipation around Lonzo Ball and his role with the Lakers.

With a 2-4 record for the Lakers after a 96-81 loss to the Jazz on Saturday, the rookie is taking some of the blame and pointing to "two dumb plays" he made that shifted the momentum.

"Put this loss on me," Ball told reporters after the game. "We were coming back. Two dumb plays by me, and they got up."

Ball only logged nine points, four assists and two rebounds with two steals and five turnovers. This marked the first time this season that Ball did not post at least seven rebounds in a game.

The momentum change came from Jazz rookie Donovan Mitchell, who nailed a one-handed putback dunk. Ball was then in position to grab the rebound, but no one boxed out Mitchell. Ball then threw a turnover on the following play, which led to a 3-pointer from Mitchell.

"That was my fault," Ball said of Mitchell's dunk. "If you think about it, that kind of changed the whole course of the game. ... I should have boxed him out. Then I threw the turnover."

After the loss, Ball posted a message for Lakers' fans on Twitter that read, "If you not with us now don't be with us later...we gone figure it out."
