Cyclist's terrifying 60km/h crash after handlebars implode

Professional French cyclist Maxime Roger has suffered a horrible crash at 60km/h during the second stage of the Tour of Moselle.

The 21-year-old's fate was sealed after he flew over a speed bump and his handlebars broke.

Roger, who was coming second in the general classification at the time, attempted to save himself by balancing on the front frame of his broken bike, before he was tipped over the front.

The rider for Ag2r La Mondiale was lucky to avoid serious injury as he skidded across the pavement, reporting only knee pain as a result of the crash.

The Frenchman is hoping to return to riding in a couple of weeks.

The incident is reminiscent of a number of other horror crashes in cycling recently.
