Hockey player suspended for vicious head hit

Ice hockey player Dale Weise has been suspended for a brutal hit that left his opponent’s face bloodied and bruised in the NHL.

The Philadelphia Flyers wideman left the ice, raised his elbow and made heavy contact with the head of Anaheim Ducks defenseman Korbinian Holzer.

The vicious check saw Holzer’s head jolt violently back, before he came crashing down to the ice.

Not surprisingly, he was soon seen looking battered on the Ducks bench with cotton buds sticking out of his mouth and nose to stem the bleeding.

The NHL hit Weise with a three game suspension for the illegal check, which also included a pay freeze from the Flyers.
