Cyclist's father causes dramatic crash during race
A man has been arrested and fined for deliberately causing a brutal crash during a cycling race on the French Island of La Reunion.
The culprit was the father of a competitor who was reportedly upset the Tour Cycliste Antenne Reunion wasn’t cancelled, following an earlier accident involving his son.
So as an act of revenge the man decided to drag a large section of the metal road barriers directly into the path of several competitors.
TV footage shows two riders clatter into the barriers at high speed, sending them sprawling painfully onto the concrete.
The stage was subsequently cancelled as a result of the chaotic scenes and the man was arrested by police and fined $439 (300 Euros).
