Mo Farah takes mid-race drinks break, still wins 5000m gold

Mo Farah strolled to victory in the men’s 5,000 metres at the world championships in Beijing, his seventh consecutive world and Olympic title.

Given his hot run of form, the British champion had every right to be confident, so much so, he tore away from the pack to grab a sneaky cup of water, only to casually rejoin the race before storming home.

At the 1200m mark, Farah flings wide to get a drink and then drops to the back of the pack. Without a worry in the world, he was able to pace himself to perfection to take the lead and the rest is history.

Farah’s historic “triple-double” of 5,000m and 10,000m gold medals at the London 2012 Olympics, Moscow 2013 and Beijing 2015 World Championships, leaves him just one win shy of Ethiopian Kenenisa Bekele, who has eight, having already surpassed the feats of legendary Ethiopian Haile Gebrselassie.
