The 2024 MLB playoffs are winding down, and the World Series matchup is one fans across the country have dreamed about. It's East Coast vs. West Coast, yet it's still two teams that originated in New York. It's two teams that don't hesitate to spend big on star players. It's two iconic franchises with storied histories, yet surprisingly few titles this century. It's the Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Yankees.

While fans in the Big Apple may have preferred a best-of-seven Subway Series for the Commissioner's Trophy, a classic Dodgers-Yankees showdown is a pretty stellar consolation prize. Both teams boast remarkable lineups brimming with All-Star talent. The Dodgers have muddled through numerous injuries to their pitching staff and are now only four wins away from their first full-season title in over 45 years.

The Yankees, meanwhile, made a huge trade to land superstar Juan Soto this offseason in order to compete for a title. They didn't even make the playoffs a season ago, and now they are in the World Series for the first time in over a decade.
