Tim Cahill's '16-year-old' teammate turns out to be MUCH older

A teammate of Tim Cahill who claimed to be the youngest goal-scorer in Indian Super League history has been suspended for lying about his age.

Gourav Mukhi said he was 16 years old, and made Indian Super League history in October when he scored a goal in his side’s 2-2 draw with Bengaluru FC.

But the Jamshedpur FC striker isn’t 16 at all…he’s actually 28.

He even hoodwinked Cahill, who told Mukhi “this is the best moment of your life” after his goal.

The All Inida Football Federation have now suspended Mukhi for six months and revoked his registration after Telegraph India uncovered his lie.

“All India Football Federation (AIFF) Disciplinary Committee has imposed a six-month suspension on Jamshedpur FC player Gourav Mukhi with immediate effect,” the AIFF said in a statement.

Mukhi was caught in a similar age fraud when he represented the state of Jharkhand in an Under-15 tournament in 2015.

If he was not 15 in 2015, he is definitely not 16 in 2018.

Jharkhand was stripped off their title and Mukhi was handed a suspension.
