    Cathy Freeman: One Nation

In her home country, at the prime of her career, Sydney 2000 was Cathy Freeman's Olympics. Despite some glaring technical issues Freeman was beaming during the lighting of the Olympic cauldron and topped off what was a spectacular Games by winning the gold medal in the glamour 400m sprint event.

Cathy Freeman carried the weight of a nation for her circuit of Sydney's Olympic Stadium in what became one of the most watched television events in Australia's proud sporting history.

Freeman shed the hood of her hi-tech bodysuit following her victory and quickly draped herself in both the Australian and Aboriginal flags post-race, Freeman became the poster child for reconciliation.
