Monty Panesar caught seeking Tinder date after Ashes loss

Monty Panesar caught seeking Tinder date after Ashes loss

England bowler Monty Panesar has been left red-faced after a woman he met on Tinder exposed his attempts to lure her to his hotel room just hours after his side’s Ashes loss in the Melbourne Test.

According to Daily Mirror reports, Alison, an American twenty-something backpacker, couldn’t believe it was actually Panesar, having just seen him play at the Melbourne Cricket Ground days earlier at the fourth Ashes Test.

His profile image on the popular app was of the spinner batting against Australia.

“I sent a message because I wondered whether it was really him. I was shocked when it was,” she said.

After their eight-wicket loss to Australia Panesar told Alison that the team was encouraged to reflect on the performance and not permitted to leave the hotel.

“I wanted to talk to him about cricket but he had no intentions of that. All he seemed interested in was getting me over to the hotel,” she said.

“I thought it was a bit strange he would be behaving like that so soon after they had lost.”

After a long message exchange in which Panesar said he “loved American girls”, the divorced 31-year-old insisted Alison visit his team hotel.

“I would have met him in a public place but I was not going to meet him at his apartment by myself. You would hope people do not do that,” Alison, whose full name has been withheld, said.

A poor effort during the most recent Ashes series has seen Panesar’s attempt to resurrect his international career, fall flat. He was dropped for the fifth and final Ashes Test in Sydney.

The woman reportedly still saw the Englishman on Tinder after being dropped.

“He’s active every day on there,” she said.

“It’s strange that he’s on there when he should be concentrating on playing cricket.”
