Unknown sub fielder becomes instant cult hero at SCG
With Australia short on troops on day five against Pakistan, they called on a lanky substitute fieldsman with flowing blonde hair. And the crowd absolutely loved him.
Every time he fielded the ball the SCG crowd cheered with delight, with commentators speculating the Aussies had plucked him from the stands.
SCORECARD: Australia v Pakistan, third Test
CLEAN SWEEP: Aussies crush Pakistan, win series 3-0
As it turns out his name is Mickey Edwards and he has become an instant cult hero barely three months after starting the season in second grade.
"They might have dragged him out of the Brewongle Stand," Channel Nine commentator Ian Chappell said.
"Didn't drag him out of the barber's, nice head of hair," Bill Lawry added.
Bigger cheers for substitute fielder Mickey Edwards - the surfie looking blonde - than actual wickets. I love Australia.

With Matthew Renshaw out of the match with concussion and David Warner leaving the field on Saturday afternoon, Edwards was called upon.
But when Warner returned, the boisterous crowd wasn't happy about the 200cm fast bowler being replaced.
David Warner returns, relieving cult hero Mickey Edwards of his substitute fielder duties... massive boos around the SCG. Love it.

The Australian side regularly ask young grade cricketers to join them during Test matches on the off chance they might be required to field.
Edwards went from regular Joe during the Boxing Day Test to playing for his country:
